Spontaneity & memories
Most of us got our routine stuck up our asses and we don’t all see it. We’re in our common life and the ones that actually take risks are sometimes judged for it. To me, people that take risks literally impresses the shit out of me, like go off and pursue your fucking dream or whatever experience you’re going after. It’s by doing things like this that we experience and get to tell a story months or years later, that’s how we remember some days because God knows we don’t remember everyday that we’ve lived, but we surely do remember the ones when we took a risk or tried something new. Which brings me to my question, when was the last time you did something for the first time?
My last time I did a first time
Well it’s not really hard because I was recently on vacation in Italy so I did try new things, like I swam in Mediterranean water for the first time, I made Italian pastas (like not just cook them I actually created them) for the first time, it was also my first time on a trip this long in Europe. Anyways, I did many new things obviously, but if I think back to my routine before leaving for Italy, I think the last thing I did for the first time was go to the gym at 6AM on a Tuesday. Also, never again because the whole North America is at the gym on Tuesdays at 6AM for whatever reason.
Why I think spontaneity is important
- Memories obviously
You’re most likely to remember the day you decided to impulsively go to a restaurant you’ve never been to on a random week night, than a day you decided to go home again and just do nothing. That’s a small exemple, but truly, spontaneity makes memories you won’t forget and will look back to.
- Spinning in a routine 365 days a year is BORING
Love myself a good routine, but if you JUST do the routine all year, then what the fuck kind of year is that? Spontaneity isn’t about going partying and drinking the shit out of your liver, it’s about trying new things or doing something different that will make your day different from the others. If you’re just staying in the same routine everyday, every month, then what are you, like a NPC character or something??
- Stories to tell & no regrets to face
Don’t you want to tell your kids and grandkids about the day you went on an impulsive roadtrip and met the greatest person, lived the most amazing experience & maybe did some shit you wouldn’t do today? I mean, we don’t want to go to rest forever seeing all we could’ve done but didn’t because the routine was more comfortable don’t we? I don’t. Which is why doing something for the first time makes your life journal more fulfilled with good times than with regrets.
- L.I.V.I.N (Dazed & Confused reference)
Whatever you’re scared of, you can put up with it. Being scared is a feeling, overcoming it is another one, in the end, just living should be a big enough reason to take that last-minute decision, that new experience around the corner and feel it all the way through. What are you on Earth for?? If we’re here to live and experience, then fucking do it, don’t let your fears control your whole life, because it’s leading you nowhere. Although I’m one to talk, because I can have a hard fucking time overcoming some of my fears, but I know it’s not the way to live; letting them control all of you.
Some ideas for spontaneity
Obviously, we don’t have all the same experiences, some of us have done things for the first time that others didn’t, but you get the point.
- Do something you wouldn’t usually do
That’s vague, I know, but I don’t know you personally so what do you want me to say??? Seriously, if you’re not that spontaneous, just think about something that you would never do and would be impressed if one of your closed people told you they did and then do it.
- Call an old friend and go out with them
Sometimes all you need is someone to make a come back in your life LOL. You guys may not connect like the way you used to, but at least you’ll know.
- Random solo date
Go to the beach after work, take a few days to go in a different close city that you never went to, book a massage or a facial, try a new restaurant, etc. Just do something that you never did before.
- New activities
You know what I’ve been wanting to try lately??? Sip & paint. I’m absolute shit in painting and I don’t tolerate alcohol at all, but I think it looks so cool. Anyways, I’m sure there are many activities you haven’t tried in your city or near it that you can go to and have a good fucking time. Alone or with a friend, a date or family, whatever you decide.
- New items
I did that like 5 months ago, I bought a piece of clothing I would usually never buy, and I’ve been living in since then. Anyways, it can be a piece of clothing, jewelry, a decoration for your room, etc. Stepping out of your comfort zone that way brings a new color to your life. In my case, it was a fireman flashy red oversized vest, and I don’t regret it a second. OH you can also try new kinds of books, like if you love romance, maybe try I don’t know fiction books and see if you like it.
So, looking back, when was the last time you tried something for the first time? It does not have to be a huge thing, I mean you could just try something new of off the menu instead of taking the same thing every goddam time LOL. However, trying new things, and living new experiences is what keeps us alive, what keeps our curiosity fed and also what gives you something to look forward to if you planned it in advance. Anyways, I think we should all use a little bit of spontaneity in our everyday life, because in the end, what the hell? Live it all until the last day. Ok that was a little bit dark, but you understand what I meant. GO OUT IN THE FUCKING WORLD AND TRY WHATEVER IT IS YOU WANT TO TRY.
